Heart Break

“So, what is it?” She asked. My friend, Eva, Nah! my girlfriend. We have been friends for four years but started dating six months ago. It was a quick decision, she was like a backup for “the one” in my life. When She said she’s keeping her love life as a secret, I realized that I loved an inamorata. Then, Eva let me use her as a Coffee to Sober up. “Babe, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” She looked into my eyes with her puppy ones which are gonna glisten soon.

“I don’t wanna do this anymore”, I said hastily. “Do what?” She boop my nose playfully. “This, the thing we have” I said with annoyance. “The thing? It was ‘love’ for past six months. Now, it’s the ‘thing’ we have?” She enraged a bit. “Is she single now?, Your girl?” She asked while sipping her coffee. “Yes, Eva”. “Isn’t it great? Tell me more about it”. She isn’t faking it, I swear on my life she isn’t being sarcastic either. The true emotion she expressed when I talked about “my girl” when we were friends.

“I met her at the library, she told me that her relationship wasn’t normal after I proposed her. I clogged her mind, Eva. I think she loves me” I said it to my girlfriend. “How are you so sure, hon?” She said mockingly. “She asked me if I still love her, Silly” I laughed proudly forgetting that I’m talking to the girl I’m dating. “Wowie… I’m so happy for you, babe” she laughed with teary eyes. “I’m sorry”. “Don’t be babe, I love you so much and I loved you a hundred ways in these six months. I’m glad my love turned requited for some time. It hurt but still, I’m happy to let you get the love of your life, “the one” as you always mention.” She giggled. “You’re just saying it, you’re definitely hurt. We shouldn’t end it if you don’t want to” I said half heartedly. How selfish!

“Well, it does hurt sweetheart. I planned an eternity with you just to call it off in days. It definitely hurts, Guess what’ll heal it? Your happiness. If that’s what you want, go get it boy. I can’t do this either, if it isn’t mutual. If you choose “your girl” over me, I choose “me” over you. I’ll just go then. Keep me updated, loverboy” she boop my nose again. “Hey” I pulled her by her hand and kissed her forehead. “Bye” she whispered with a painful smile.

That’s my friend again, as a heart I have broken, the girl I used to wipe out my tears, the distraction of my worst days. Why isn’t she the one? Why can’t I love her? If this is what it meant to be, let it be. And you fairy, Why do you still love me? Why did you heal me? All for what? Just to get a heart break?
